Tori Towey

Tori was facing some serious trouble until i got help from Radha Stirling and Detained in Dubai

Hi, my name is Tori. A while ago back last summer I got into some trouble with the laws in Dubai, some of which wouldn’t make much sense to many Westerners. I was facing some serious trouble and without the help of Radha Stirling and Detained in Dubai, it’s possible that I would still be stuck over there so my family and I will be forever grateful to Detained In Dubai forgetting me home safe.

In July 2024, Irish flight attendant Tori Towey faced a harrowing ordeal in Dubai after being charged with attempted suicide and alcohol consumption following a severe domestic assault by her husband. Feeling trapped and vulnerable, Tori reached out to Radha Stirling, the founder of Detained in Dubai, an organisation known for assisting individuals facing legal issues in the UAE. Radha promptly took up Tori's case, providing her with essential support and advocacy during this distressing time.

Radha Stirling's involvement was instrumental in mobilising both the Irish government and international media to rally behind Tori. She highlighted the injustices Tori faced, emphasising the urgency of her situation. Radha noted, "The Irish government has acted in record time. They don't normally come together this quickly." This swift action was evident when Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald raised Tori's case in the Dáil, leading to interventions by Taoiseach Simon Harris and Tánaiste Micheál Martin. The collective efforts resulted in the lifting of Tori's travel ban and the withdrawal of charges against her.

Upon her return to Ireland, Tori expressed profound gratitude for the support she received. She stated, "They all just worked as a team and they were amazing. I'm so grateful to all of them." Radha Stirling also commended the collaborative efforts, remarking, "Beautiful to see the support coming from all of the Irish people and the media. I think it just helped her get through the time."

This case underscores the impact of coordinated advocacy and media attention in addressing legal injustices abroad.
